The Lincoln Park Conservancy is pleased to announce that Rafael Rosa will take the helm as Executive Director on December 13, 2023. Mindy Munson, who serves as the co-chair of the Board of Directors along with Margee Elias, said “I am thrilled to have Rafael join our organization. His proven record of nonprofit management and leadership combined with his knowledge of nature and conservation make him well-positioned to lead us to a bright and sustainable future.”
Building on his previous experience, Rafael will oversee all aspects of the Conservancy’s operations including staff leadership, program direction, strategic planning, fundraising, fiscal management, marketing and community outreach.
For the past nine years, Rosa has worked in the conservation community on a nationwide basis, first with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) as its Senior Vice President of Programs and most recently with the American Conservation Experience (ACE) as Chief Program Officer. While at those organizations, he led teams responsible for partnership development and program implementation for thousands of young adults engaging in conservation work on public lands across the country. Previous to those roles, Rosa was a 25-year member of the Chicago museum community including 22 years at the Chicago Academy of Sciences and its Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum where he served as Vice President of Education. He has also worked with museums and conservation and environmental organizations across the Chicago area as the Co-Chair of the Chicago Wilderness Alliance Education Committee.
“For me, the greatest treasure of Chicago is its unparalleled urban green space thanks to the foresight and implementation of the Burnham Plan. I am thrilled with the opportunity to lead the fantastic team at the Lincoln Park Conservancy, an organization dedicated to helping maintain and expand access to the Park for all of the communities in Chicago.”
We are excited to welcome Rafael to his new role in mid-December. For questions, email Mindy Munson.
