North Pond Restoration Update

Share to:

We are excited to share continued updates as we move the North Pond Restoration Project forward. In November, we hosted three virtual public input meetings that were attended by over 150 persons who joined to learn more about the project and share their feedback.  The project is now moving through further plan development and permitting which will take several months. We intend on having plans and permits completed by late this summer with contractor selection and the dredge beginning this fall. The full project will be completed by late 2022. Please email Doug Widener if you’d like to set up an individual or group meeting to learn more about the Pond’s restoration and how you can help.

In other big news, we could not be more proud to announce that with extraordinary giving over the past few months, the total raised towards the project is over $6.4 million of the $7.5 million total budget. Thank you to the more than 200 donors who have contributed to this important project. If you would like to give, there’s never been a better time. All gifts–of all sizes–will help us close our remaining funding gap and ensure that all project funds are raised prior to work beginning later this year. If you donate now, your gift will be matched 3:1 through the generous support of the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation.
