With the turning of the calendar, the Lincoln Park Conservancy is looking forward to a bright 2021 in service of our mission to Chicago’s largest and most visited park. In addition to breaking ground on the restoration of North Pond in the Fall, our current plans for 2021 include:

Welcoming back our amazing volunteers – As the year progresses, we hope to welcome back the thousands of volunteers who help make our work possible across Lincoln Park. Our stewardship efforts will officially kickoff for Earth Month including our annual Earth Day workday. Our North Pond Gardeners meet twice per month during the spring, summer, and fall and help with a variety of stewardship projects around North Pond and other park natural areas. Our organized group program coordinates special stewardship outings for corporate and civic groups. If you like to talk and share your passion for the park with others, consider training to become a Lincoln Park docent. Our volunteer docents deliver interpretive programs and tours to visitors at the Lincoln Park Conservatory, Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, and North Pond. To learn more about these and other volunteer opportunities throughout 2021, email: or check out the volunteer page on our website.

Re-opening of the Lincoln Park Conservatory – While there is no date yet, the Conservancy is excited to be working with the Chicago Park District on a limited reopening plan for the Lincoln Park Conservatory later this spring. Plans are dependent on evolving COVID-19 restrictions at the State and City level and will involve timed ticketing, limited crowds, and social distancing. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Auction for Lincoln Park – Though we would love to gather in person this spring for our annual Gala for Lincoln Park, we plan to repeat last year’s virtual Auction for Lincoln Park as a way to safely engage together and raise money for our work across the park. Dates are still being planned. If you are interested in serving on our auction committee and helping with soliciting auction items, recruiting event sponsors, and assisting with marketing and promotions, please email or call (773) 883-7275. We would love to have your help with one of our biggest fundraisers of the year.

Celebrating 20 Years of the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool restoration – Join us this summer or fall for a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Conservancy and the Chicago Park District’s joint restoration of the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool. This shining example of prairie style landscape architecture–a true gem of urban nature–was lovingly restored in 2000 and earned the site national and state historic designation. We look forward to sharing more on our celebration plans later this year.

Walk the Pond – We hope to bring back our much-loved annual fundraiser and family event, pending COVID-19 restrictions in Fall of 2021.

Stay tuned for more on our many plans for 2021 in future newsletters and follow us on our social media channels: FB @chicagolincolnpark, Twitter @lpconservancy and Instagram @lpconservancy.
