The docents have had a fun and busy fall with lots of great opportunities and programming in the Park! We wrapped Wildflower Walks training in September and hosted our final Wildflower Walk of the season at the end of October. Fall docent training in the Conservatory finished last weekend, with 16 new docent graduates joining our program. We’re so excited to welcome them, so please stop by in the coming weeks and months to get to know them and say hello! Several of our docents were also present for our recent sold-out spooky after-hours open house in the Conservatory, where they chatted with guests about “spooky” plants.
In the spirit of the season, we also teamed up with the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in October to offer a joint continuous learning event for our volunteers: Haunted History of Lincoln Park and a Cookie Exchange!

This event was hosted in the South Gallery of the Nature Museum and around 25 volunteers from both the Conservancy and Nature Museum enjoyed a presentation from Tony Szabelski of American Ghost Walks, as well as LOTS of cookies and seasonal treats. We look forward to hosting more tandem continuous learning events in 2024 and it brings me a lot of joy to see our volunteer communities thriving across the Park!
