Earth Day Across Lincoln Park
On April 20, 2024, the Conservancy celebrated Earth Day with over 100 volunteers from Edgewater to River North! For the first time, in addition to our traditional hub at North Pond Nature Sanctuary, we added two locations to expand our reach up and down the long stretch of protected lakefront that we call Lincoln Park.
Thank you to those who bundled up to participate and to our partners, Gold Coast Neighbors and Lakeview Area Neighbors Associations who ensured the success of Earth Day’s two new sites, Standing Lincoln and Margate Fieldhouse. Across the park, volunteers picked up over 500 gallons of litter!
And if adding two sites wasn’t enough, the Conservancy even had a presence at a fourth Lincoln Park location. Much appreciation to board member and docent Buffie Berger for spearheading an Earth Day info table alongside fellow docents Sandi Allfrey, Marilyn Cahill and Cheryl Cesario at Old Town Triangle Association’s April 20th event, which featured the installation of a pollinator garden in Ella Jenkins Park.
